What is a Scholastic Boosters’ grant?
It is a cash award paid directly to the student and his/her college and applied to the student’s account. It is not a loan and, therefore, need not be repaid. The grants are made to assist deserving Township students who face obstacles in completing their college financial packages.
How do you qualify for a Scholastic Boosters’ grant?
Students who reside in Millburn Township may apply for a grant for any or all of their years of post-high school, undergraduate education. Applicants must complete an application form listing college costs and assets as well as the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) which is available online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
How does the selection process work? The Scholastic Boosters looks most favorably on applicants who have taken on financial obligations such as Stafford Loans or Charles T. King Fund Loans, and are contributing to their own financial package through summer employment. Following submission of an application, a member of the Scholastic Boosters’ Board will interview applicants and their parents. The Boosters’ Board reviews all grant applications, and determines who will be recipients and the size of their grants. The entire process is completely confidential.
